Tennis is an intermittent open sport that requires many physical and mental skills and a high level of physical conditioning. The ability to assess physical performance is therefore, an important aspect of a strength and conditioning coach’s work. An effective battery of standardised tests administered prior to and during a competitive season can be indicative of an athlete’s progress and competition readiness, and can also highlight an athlete’s strengths and weaknesses to direct an appropriate strength and conditioning training programme.
