UKSCA S&C Trainer Assessor Training on 5,6 Feb 2025 - Portsmouth

30/11/2024

NEXT ASSESSOR TRAINING DATES - 5,6 FEBRUARY 2025 - PORTSMOUTH

The UKSCA's next assessor training course will be held in February 2025 in Portsmouth. This course is being run as part of our partnership with the Royal Navy School of Physical Training, and the Navy have kindly allowed other UKSCA members to attend this course at their base in Portsmouth, HMS Temeraire.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

UKSCA Accredited S&C Coaches, looking to become Licensed Assessors for the new S&C Trainer qualification need to attend one of our 2-day courses, as well as complete eLearning modules and a portfolio of their work. We run 3-4 of these courses a year, based on demand.

WHY IS THIS BEING HELD AT THE NAVY BASE?

This course forms part of our on-going partnership with the Royal Navy's School of Physical Training and our 'hand-over of skills'. For a number of years UKSCA tutors have been delivering S&C workshops as part of the Navy's 6-month course for new PTIs. In 2023, we focussed these workshops and added in the S&C Trainer assessments, to enable their new PTIs to gain this valuable qualification as part of their 6-month training.

The next phase of this partnership in 2024, saw us take 6 of their top PTI instructors and support them to become UKSCA Accredited S&C Coaches. Those 6 are now finalising the steps to become UKSCA Licensed assessors by attending the 2-day assessor course in February.

Following this assessor course, the Royal Navy School of Physical Training will then be able to independently run the UKSCA S&C Trainer qualification for their PTIs.

We are delighted to be working with the Navy through this programme of upskilling, ensuring that they are embedding the latest S&C knowledge and skills into the work that they do, whether that is training Navy sports teams or keeping the Navy operationally fit.
