FA-UKSCA PROGRAMME AIMS

The FA Women’s Game are looking:

  1. To ensure those delivering S&C are suitably qualified and have met agreed minimum standards of skills and knowledge. Depending on the level they are working at, this will either be UKSCA Accredited S&C Coach or S&C Trainer.
  2. To provide cost-effective, but flexible, individualised pathways for existing Women’s National League and Girls' Emerging Talent Centre coaches to meet the standards, considering their variety of backgrounds and on-the-job experience.
  3. To ensure once coaches have met the standards, through maintaining their registered status, they demonstrate to the wider world their commitment to:
  • Professional standards of practice
  • Working with in a Code of Conduct
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Active participation in the profession

UKSCA Accredited S&C Coach is the standard required at higher levels of the the Women's Super League and Championship. UKSCA S&C Trainer is the level set for the Women's National League and Emerging Talent Centres.

THE 2025 S&C TRAINER PROGRAMME

The 2025 programme will enable staff to gain the new Level 3 Diploma for UKSCA S&C Trainers, and will run over 6 months in 2025 from two centres, Manchester Institute of Health and Performance and St Mary’s University, Twickenham. It combines face-to-face practical workshops and online sessions, followed by individualised support with an assigned mentor.

The Diploma is available at a discounted price to coaches and clubs, with the WNL Strategy or ETC funding contributing to the cost of each learner.

THE S&C TRAINER STANDARD

To register with the UKSCA at S&C Trainer level, the coach must demonstrate their skills, knowledge and experience though five assessments:

  1. Foundation movements, small group coaching session
  2. Safety in the gym
  3. Strength-based training coaching session
  4. Design of a 12-week S&C programme
  5. Critical reflection of knowledge and practice on the delivery of the above programme.

To ensure assessment rigour, the above assessments form the basis of a new regulated qualification, the Level 3 Diploma for UKSCA S&C Trainers. This programme will enable existing club staff to gain the qualification, demonstrate they have met the required standards of practice, and register with the UKSCA at S&C Trainer level.
